Abstract

Computer-based access systems have created new potential for achieving the objectives of librarianship: access to and delivery of information. Librarians have not adeqauetly considered the tradeoffs imposed by the new technologies, and have not been proactive enough in shaping their design and function. Examines the problems posed by online and CD-ROM based tools and proposes several areas for linrarian involvement
