Abstract

Examines the essential features and merits of chain indexing systems. Discusses the principles and method of construction of an A/Z subject index using the chain indexing system. Highlights the experience of Kirloskar Electric Co. in Bangalore in using such an index for document retrieval. The discussion is confined to the single entry system for a document in the classified file.
