Abstract

Am Ende des Jahrtausends wird der Globus von einem ansteckenden Hühnerfieber erfaßt. Das digitale 'Rühr'-Ei Tamagotchi bricht nicht nur alle Verkaufsrekorde, sondern auch reihenweise die herzen der Kinder, die über den plötzlichen Tod ihres Cyber-Viehs zutiefst schockiert sind. Der virtuelle Raum existiert neben dem realen Raum und kann mit diesem vielfältige neue assoziative Formen bilden, ihn aber auch verdrängen und substituieren, jedoch niemals als Ganzes ersetzen. Der virtuelle Raum ist das Unterscheidungskriterium zwischen klassischer Industriegesellschaft und virtueller Gesellschaft und der entscheidende Indikator des Transformationsprozesses
