Abstract
Äußerst übersichtlich und effizient präsentiert sich das aktuelle A-Z Lexikon von Bertelsmann, für dessen Software-Umsetzung USM verantwortlich zeichnet.

"Die rund 150.000 Stichwörter werden alphabetisch oder nach Rubriken wie Fachgebiete, Zeitbereiche, Geografie, Organisation und Ereignisse sortiert. Natürlich stehen auch eine Reihe von Suchfunktionen zur Verfügung. Der Übersicht ebenso zuträglich ist ein zusätzliches Vorschaufenster, das die nächstgereihten lexikalen Einträge mit einer Kurzzusammenfassung darstellt. Generell sind die Gliederung und die Suchfunktion die wesentlichen Pluspunkte des multimedialen Nachschlagewerkes, das darüber hinaus auch mit einem guten Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis zu punkten weiß. Nicht zuletzt aufgrund des Preises kann man dann auch darüber hinwegsehen, dass Verlinkungen zu anderen Einträgen nicht omnipräsent sind. Auch die Anzahl von multimedialen Inhalten könnte etwas höher bemessen sein, sowie der eine oder andere Beitrag etwas aussagekräftiger. Doch dank einer kostenlosen Update-Funktion lässt sich das lexikale Werk für eine bestimmte Zeitspanne auf dem neuesten Stand halten."
