Abstract

Die Recherche in der Universitätsbibliothek ist für viele Studenten eine Qual. Die gewählten Schlagwörter bringen kein Ergebnis und die Suche im Katalog wird zum Verwirrspiel. Die Hamburger Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek stellt den Nutzern nun eine virtuelle Beraterin zur Seite: Stella.

"Das digitale Wesen auf der Website der Bibliothek gibt beispielsweise Hilfestellung bei der Suche nach Literatur, informiert zu den Angeboten und hilft bei der Navigation auf der Website und im Bücherarchiv. Schlank, schulterlange weiße Haare und ein breites Lächeln im Gesicht - das ist Stella. "Guten Tag! Ich bin Stella." wird der User begrüßt. Antwortet er mit seinem Namen, beginnt Stella das persönliche Gespräch. Immer charmant, weiß sie auf fast jede Frage eine Antwort. Und das 24 Stunden am Tag, sieben Tage die Woche, 365 Tage im Jahr. Ihr Gesichtsausdruck: Immer freundlich. Zehn verschiedene Stimmungen kann sie mit ihrem Gesicht darstellen, von erklärend über begeistert bis zu verwirrt. Die Staatsbibliothek Hamburg will mit dem Einsatz von Stella die Nutzer schon vor dem Besuch der Bibliothek umfassend informieren. Stella zeigt dem Nutzer die verschiedenen Angebote der Bibliothek und gibt dabei gezielte Tipps zur Nutzung. Die Erfahrungen in den ersten Wochen waren sehr gut. Die Nutzer bleiben länger auf der Website und unterhalten sich gerne mit Stella. Die Staatsbibliothek registrierte bis zu 800 Gespräche pro Tag. 84 Prozent der Nutzerfragen bezogen sich auf die Bibliothek. Der Vorteil der virtuellen Berater: Die Besucher der Homepage können sich mit ihnen in Umgangssprache unterhalten. Die iQT Technologie, sozusagen das Gehirn der Agenten, bewertet die Eingaben der Gesprächspartner. Wird ein bestimmtes Muster gefunden, antwortet der virtuelle Berater entweder konkret auf die Frage oder bittet um weitere Informationen. Der Nutzer läuft so nie ins Leere und bleibt immer im Gespräch."
"Stella weicht unflätigen Angeboten aus und versucht, das Gespräch wieder geschickt auf das ursprüngliche Thema zu lenken. Beispielsweise auf die Bitte "Zieh Dich ausl" antwortet Stella: "Freut mich, wenn Sie mein Körper interessiert. Studieren Sie Human-Medizin? Soll ich ihnen verraten, wo Sie Material dazu finden?""
