Abstract
Die umfassende und schnelle Informationsgewinnung steht heute im Mittelpunkt für den interessierten und aufgeklärten Menschen des Informationszeitalters. Die gezielte und effiziente Aufbereitung, Erschließung und Bereitstellung der angebotenen Fülle an Informationsdienstleistungen ist die Aufgabe und gleichzeitig auch eine Herausforderung für jede Bibliothek Wissenschaftliche und öffentliche Bibliotheken sichern den Zugang zu Wissen in allen medialen Formen und tragen dadurch zur Chancengleichheit bei. Dabei kommt es darauf an, nicht nur die notwendige Technik zur Verfügung zu stellen, sondern die digitalen Informationsangebote einfach und überschaubar zu erschließen. Der Zugang zu diesen Informationsdiensten gestaltet sich für den Suchenden jedoch häufig problematisch: er hat nicht nur die unüberschaubare Vielfalt des Angebotes zu sichten, sondern wird auch mit den jeweils unterschiedlichen Oberflächen und Suchmöglichkeiten der einzelnen Informationsdienste konfrontiert. Hier setzt die Portallösung an: Die Benutzer erhalten einen Nachweis über das lokale, regionale und übergreifende Angebot ihrer Bibliothek sowie auch ausgewählte zusätzliche Informationen. Die Offentliche Bibliothek dient so dem Benutzer als Anlaufstelle, an der er gebündelte Informationen unter einer komfortabel zu bedienenden Oberfläche findet. Durch die Integration von heterogenen und verteilten Datenquellen ist ein umfassender, schneller und komfortabler Informationsgewinn gewährleistet. Die Bibliothek stärkt ihre Rolle als lokale Informationszentrale für den Endkunden, den Bibliotheksbenutzer.
