Abstract
Der Bestand der 1979 gegründeten Hochschule für Jüdische Studien (HfJS) umfasst mit insgesamt ca. 48.000 Bänden, den Unterrichtsfächern an der HfJS entsprechend, fast die gesamte Breite der Jüdischen Studien. Die aktuelle Forschungsliteratur wird durch Altbestände seit dem 16. Jh. ergänzt. Von Beginn an wurden zwei Kataloge geführt, einer in hebräischer und einer in lateinischer Schrift, wobei die hebräischen Titel ohne Paralleltitel in lateinischer Schrift ausschließlich im hebräischen Katalog verzeichnet werden, die mit Paralleltitel in transliterierter Ansetzung in beiden. Die nicht rein hebräischen Werke sind inzwischen nahezu vollständig im SWB verzeichnet, während der hebräische Katalog bisher nur als Kartenkatalog besteht und diese Bestände daher nicht außerhalb der HfJS recherchierbar sind. Die Recherche der transliterierten hebräischen Titel im elektronischen Katalog wird durch die verschiedenen Normen der Transliteration, die zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten bei der Erstellung der Katalogisate verwendet wurden, und durch die geringen Kenntnisse der Benutzer über diese Normen erschwert. Die Lösung dieser Probleme liegt in der Erstellung eines EDV-Kataloges auf der Basis einer Unicode fähigen Bibliothekssoftware, die durch Doppelung bestimmter Kategorien die Möglichkeit zur zweisprachigen Katalogisierung bietet.
