Abstract

Durch den Buchdruck hat die Weitergabe von Wissen auch in den bildenden Künsten einen überraschenden Aufschwung genommen. Die Verbreitungs- und Erwerbsgeschichte der einschlägigen Veröffentlichungen kann für Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte interessante Fakten verfügbar machen. Diese Tatsache sollte der Provenienzforschung Anlass sein, Werken der Architektur- und Kunsttheorie sowie Vorlagensammlungen - vor allem der frühen Neuzeit - stärkere Beachtung zu schenken.
