Abstract
Uwe Jochum hat in der Märzausgabe von BuB (Seite 216 bis 219) eine elegant formulierte Provokation vorgetragen, die er mit »Das Mediendesaster« überschrieb. Worin das Mediendesaster bestehe, deutet der Untertitel an: »Wie der Computer das Buch verdrängt und zum riskanten Totalmedium wird«. Das lässt sich ausbuchstabieren in drei markige Thesen: erstens, dass der Computer das Buch verdrängt; zweitens, dass der Computer ein Totalmedium ist; drittens, dass ein Totalmedium »riskant« ist. Keine dieser Thesen versteht sich von selbst. Der folgende Beitrag hat daher zwei Ziele: zu klären, was die Thesen bedeuten, und zu erklären, warum sie falsch sind.
