Abstract

Im Kontext der Wiederverwendbarkeit ist in den letzten Jahren eine Reihe von Tools entstanden, die das Auffinden von Vokabularen ermöglichen. Dieser Artikel gibt einen kurzen Überblick über momentan verfügbare Suchmöglichkeiten nach Vokabularen, stellt die grundlegenden Funktionsweisen dar und erläutert deren Vor- und Nachteile. Den Schwerpunkt bilden Suchmaschinen für Semantic-Web-Dokumente.

"Das Wiederverwenden bereits vorhandener Vokabulare bringt eine Reihe von Vorteilen mit sich: das Erstellen von Vokabularen ist zeit- und kostenaufwendig. Neben der technischen Komponente für deren Erstellung werden auch umfangreiche Fachkenntnisse der zu modellierenden Domäne benötigt. Wird ein Vokabular in einer Reihe unterschiedlicher Dokumente eingebunden, zeugt es von Einigkeit über das Vokabular innerhalb einer Fachgemeinschaft. Durch unzureichende Suchmöglichkeiten nach Vokabularen und ein fehlendes Bewusstsein für die Wiederverwendung wurden in den letzten Jahren eine große Anzahl neuer Vokabulare erstellt, die inhaltlich ähnliche oder sogar gleiche Domänen und Vorgänge abbilden. Der Zeitaufwand für die Auswahl eines geeigneten Vokabulars steigt mit der Anzahl verfügbarer Möglichkeiten, da zuerst analysiert werden muss, warum ein Vokabular einem anderen vorzuziehen ist. Blickt man auf die momentan verfügbaren Vokabulare, die bibliografischen Daten beschreiben, wird ersichtlich, dass auf diesem Gebiet bereits viele Überschneidungen existieren. Vokabulare wie die AKT Reference Ontology, Bibliographic Ontology, CiTO, MarcOnt Bibliographic Ontology oder PRISM (Publishing Requirements for Industry Standard Metadata) bieten nur einen sehr kleinen Einblick über vorhandene Beispiele auf diesem Gebiet. Um eine möglichst breite Nachnutzung von Vokabularen zu gewährleisten, bedarf es verständlichen, frei zugänglichen Dokumentationen für eine korrekte Verwendung der Terme und einer ausreichenden Vergabe von Metadaten."
