Abstract
Künstliche Intelligenzen, welche die Menschheit vernichten wollen, liefern zwar guten Filmstoff. Viel realistischer und damit gefährlicher sind jedoch Roboter, die einen Auftrag missverstehen - oder von böswilligen Befehlshabern instruiert werden. Bericht über ein Experiment, in dem ein Roboter lernen muss, einem Menschen zu vertrauen, wenn er dem Roboter sagt, er solle ruhig von der Tischplatte springen, weil der Mensch ihn auffängt.

"Dass Maschinen mit überlegenen Geistesgaben die Weltherrschaft übernehmen, ist zurzeit nicht eines unserer vorrangigen Probleme - aber dass Roboter mit rudimentärer künstlicher Intelligenz Menschen, Sachen, die Umwelt oder sich selbst schädigen, durchaus. Dabei ist das größte Problem nicht die Fehlbarkeit der Roboter, sondern die ihrer menschlichen Erbauer und Befehlsgeber. Menschen machen Fehler. Sie geben falsche oder missverständliche Anweisungen, sind unaufmerksam oder versuchen, die Maschinen für ihre Absichten zu missbrauchen. Wegen unserer eigenen Schwächen müssen wir den Robotern beibringen, wann und wie sie Nein zu sagen haben."
