Abstract

Engineering Information Inc. (Ei) is a non profit making organisation dedicated to organizing and disseminating engineering literature. Analyses the climate of the information industry. Provides a history of Ei since its inception in 1884. Describes the Ei Reference Desk, a customized software system running under Windows, which integrates online access to Ei Compendex Plus abstracts, other online databases, CD-ROM searching and access to Ei page One on CD-ROM. From any of these sources, the search can conclude by ordering the full text of documents. Discusses beta testing of the concept and hardware requirements
