Abstract

The Asia Pacific Information Network for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (APINMAP) has used the UNESCO-developed database software, CDS/ISIS, to develop a system to store information about medicinal and aromatic plants. A new (for CDS/ISIS at least) way of retrieving this information has been developed and implemented, providing much easier searching for novice users. The new system, a modification of Query By Example, has been implemented using ISIS PASCAL, a subset of the language with database extensions which is built into the ISIS program
