Abstract

To date, the reality of multimedia publishing has often been a disappointment - still pictures with low resolution and color content, and very short movie clips that do not come close to achieving the quality we view on our televisions and VCRs. The world of digital computing was only able to deal with images in a very ham-fisted way. What was needed was a digital technology which understood image data in the same way that people do - a digital way of efficiently representing the pictures we see in our mind's eye. Fractal Transform technology solves this problem and provides a key to the future of multimedia publishing
