Abstract

This review of the literature published during 1992 summarizes developments in CD-ROM technology, with special emphasis on its impact on libraries. It provides an overview of the CD-ROM industry from an international perspective and makes special note of pricing issues as well as the large number of mergers, buyouts, and reorganiszations among key industry players. It summarizes the effects of CD-ROM on library policies and practices governing selection, budgeting, collection development, reference, staffing, users and instruction
