Abstract

Reports the Library Solutions Institute 'Rethinking reference: new models and how to get there' at the University of California Berkeley from 12-14 Mar 93. Given concern that the traditional model of reference service is no longer relevant, librarians describe strategies used in their institutions many of which have information desks staffed by graduate students with reference service offered on an appointment basis by librarians. Lists changes to reference service envisaged for the future
