Abstract

Describes 5 basic tools which will enable serials work to further the cause of scholarship in addressing global problems. These are: enhanced OPACs that can manipulate bibliographic constructs; standards that will facilitate linkages among related materials; publishing roles for libraries which will accelerate the appearance of new scholarship; inclusion of traditional serial publisher file servers on the Internet; and intermediate guides to diverse resources that will facilitate the creation of dynamic knowledge constructs
