Abstract

Describes a number of Internet distance education programmes that are making global education training via the Internet a reality. Covers: the OPen University (www.open.ac.uk); Henley Management College (www.henleymc.ac.uk); the Global Schoolhouse (www.gsn.org); Virtual Online University (www.athena.edu); Women's International Electronic University (www.wvu.edu/~womensu); WebEd (www.ceus.com); GYMNASIA VIRTUALES (www.cybercorp.net/gymv); Language Connect University (www.syrlang.com); Walden University (www.walden.edu); St. Thomas Aquinas College (www.icu.com/efs); and Humboldt State University (www.humboldt.edu). The Goddesses in World Mythology course given by the Art Information Center and Institute for Aesthetic Development (www.artinformation-center.com/iad) is an example of a 3rd wave Internet course which, using Real Audio, allows students access to course work by reading, listening, or a combination of both
